What saddened me even more was that I listened to "Cruel Summer" even though I purchased both albums on the same day....I guess my love affair with Lupe is slowly fading away.

Food and Liquor 2
I'm a Lupe fanatic...I've seen him in concert 3 times and will continue to see him live any chance I get....I was really excited to buy Food and Liquor 2 because "Bitch Bad" reminded me of the classic Lupe that I fell in love with....To be honest, it is a good album....it is not "the greatest rap album"....it is definitely not Food and Liquor....it is not a classic...and that saddens me....it is better than the other garbage we have out there right now but something is missing.....

Seven Reasons why I will miss Whitney Houston
The true Queen of Pop/R&B passed away on Saturday. I don't care how or why, all I know is we lost an iconic voice. She reminds me of my days in Addis Ababa when nothing mattered, when I didn't know what life would bring to me....seven reasons why I will always remember her.

Seven Hip-Hop Artists of All Time: Dead OR Alive!
Everyone has their favorites.....some of them are dead....some are alive.....but who are your top Seven Hip - Hop Artists of All Time: Dead OR Alive?
7. T.I: My guilty pleasure....This is who I jam to when I need to get crunk....The man can't get it right when it comes to the law but he does come out with some amazing hits in and out of prison...
6. Lupe Fiasco: Those of you who know me personally, you know that I have stocked this man...I've seen him live 3 times....for a hip-hop artist, he puts on an amazing show....but his lyrics speak louder than than his actions...
5. Outkast: One of a kind....out of that ATL...they made a mark on Southern Hip-Hop....every time they come out with an album, its like they never left....
4. Common: He reminds me of a less aggressive Tupac...and I don't consider him much of a public speaker but he can relate to you with his words when he is rapping...and that's all I need really when I'm listening to music...
3. Tupac: This guy was definitely a genius...he was smart....but he was more a poet than he was a lyricist....he spoke from the heart but still put up a front like he was gangster thus leading to his demise at a young age...again, if he was alive today, there would have been no Ja Rule, 50 Cent....and many more!
2. Jay-Z: Got his skills from the best...he does bite off quite a bit but nonetheless, he is one of the greatest in my eyes...Blueprint is definitely an all time fave of mine....not all of his work have been classics to be honest.
1. B.I.G: Dude can rhyme...if Notorious was still around, all these half - ass rappers that we have running around would not exist...
Some of you will judge and say that I don't have Eminem, The Roots, Talib, Mos Def on here but who cares....we all have our preferences....and these are mine.....

Seven Reasons why I fell in love with Hip - Hop!
There are certain joints that made me realize how much I love hip-hop! Again, I don't consider myself a connoisseur but I have learned a lot about it in the last couple of years. Here are the seven reasons why I fell in love with hip-hop.
7. Big Pimpin - Seriously this is my guilty pleasure joint....I can party to this song anytime...nothing interesting about the lyrical content, it just brings the party animal out of me. Don't judge me. http://youtu.be/Cgoqrgc_0cM
6. You Got me - I love the Roots and Erykah on this joint...maybe because he starts talking about an Ethiopian girl. http://youtu.be/MJCHeEQV454
5. Dear Mama - Tupac was a poet. This song makes me cry when I hear it but that is what poetry does to you. It moves you. http://youtu.be/Mb1ZvUDvLDY
4. Hip-Hop saved my life - Lupe did an amazing job talking about Slim Thug's life and how music saved him. http://youtu.be/vPiKKfcjI-4
3. They Reminisce over you (T.R.O.Y) - Pete Rock and CL Smooth....wonder when they are going to get back together and make another classic. http://youtu.be/FiOcVWQY2bc
2. Aquemini - I fell in love with this song when I heard it on the soundtrack for the movie "O". I was young and didn't know much about Outkast; I would definitely say that this song introduced me to them. http://youtu.be/2pjHlizcXI8
1. I used to love H.E.R - I don't I need to give an explanation for this one. Common goes off on it! http://youtu.be/C99iG4HoO1c
I'm sure some people will look at my list and say that I know nothing about hip-hop but I say "To each his own". What we have on the radio nowadays does not compare to the 7 songs I have listed. Music, in general, has changed. I'm willing to change with it but I will always remember the seven reasons why I fell in love with Hip-Hop!

Seven Reasons why I love Common!
My love for Lonnie Rashid Lynn a.k.a Common Sense a.k.a Common goes far beyond his looks. He is an amazing hip-hop artist and in recent years, he has become a great actor as well. I decided to list 7 of my favorite Common hip-hop joints....He has impacted hip-hop in so many ways but he is never credited for it. This is just my way of saying thank you to hip-hop for being diverse and isolated at the same time.
7. Testify - The way he tells the story about a woman who betrays her man, amazingly genius. http://youtu.be/CZRH68Ib1Ko
6. Retrospect for Life - This was an amazing collaboration with Lauryn Hill...he talks about getting a young woman pregnant, about how he is not ready to have the child, abortion...I wish kids these days would listen to this song and get a reality check. http://youtu.be/pmDybzfNBG0
5. The Corner - Speaks for itself. The Last Poets and Kanye West on this joint. Black is Beautiful! http://youtu.be/6mnKNr2Tiq8
4. Love is - How beautiful Love can be, How beautiful hip-hop can be
3. I Want You - Heartbreak is hard; I love this joint because I fell in love and got my heartbroken...this song made me realize that you will find love but you will never forget the love you had for another. http://youtu.be/QRfTS8bd05o
2. Love of my Life (An Ode to Hip-Hop) Disclaimer: I know this is Badu's song but I still consider it one of Common's....don't judge me for it! http://youtu.be/zQxLiKLoIZQ
1. I used to love H.E.R (Hearing Every Rhyme) http://youtu.be/C99iG4HoO1c
I have no comments for my top 2 because I really can't describe the love I have for them. Those two are the reason why I love hip-hop; they make me hope that we will have more artists like Common in the future for our kids to jam to. These 7 joints are the reason why I continue to support him. He has a way of telling a story through his music which hip-hop is lacking right now. What are your 7 fave Common joints?
